Our Co-Developers for Wound Care Classes

The following individuals were instrumental in working with Janette Dietzler in the design, development and implementation of Synergicare LLC’s Wound Care 101 and Wound Care 201 classes.

Marge Groom, RN, BSN, CWOCN

Marge is a Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse since 1997 when she attended Emory University in Atlanta Georgia for this specialty. Marge has 42 years experience in nursing from med-surge to obstetrics. Marge has experience in teaching certified Lamaze classes, working in the industry and preparing continuing education classes certified through the state of Ohio. She had the experience of being the only certified Wound, Ostomy and continence nurse in a 350 bed facility with a 100 bed long-term/rehab facility attached.  She has been a clinical nurse manager in a wound healing clinic with hyperbarics and is now working in a vascular surgeon’s office. She was instrumental in the development of the Wound Care 101 and a Wound Care 201 class currently offered through Synergicare LLC and has written other programs and presentations that have been presented both locally and nationally.

Roxie Lupien, RN, WCC

Roxie began her nursing career on a surgical step-down unit and had her first experience with the KCI Wound VAC in 1996. Involvement in surgical wounds and her introduction to the Wound VAC ignited her interest in wound care as a specialty. She had the opportunity to join the Skin and Wound Assessment Team (SWAT) in 2000 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St Louis MO. The SWAT team managed wound of all kinds: dehisced surgical wounds, enteric fistulas, Ostomies, vascular ulcers, pressure ulcers, rashes, hard to manage drains and anything else the staff nurse had a question about. She spent two years in long term care as the wound care coordinator, reducing Pressure Ulcer incidence from 8.5% to 2% in eight months. As a clinical liaison for a local long term acute care hospital (LTAC hospital), she implemented a referral program from long term care to direct admission to the LTAC hospital for complex wounds requiring extensive debridement, intravenous antibiotics and wound care to improve patients’ outcomes. Returning to the SWAT team as the program manages provided many opportunities for personal and professional growth. She received her Wound Care Certification in April 2007 and was in a MSN program with a 2009 graduation date. She was instrumental in the development of the Wound Care 101 and a Wound Care 201 class currently offered through Synergicare LLC.
